🍭Does your CV look like a patchwork with breaks and changes?Don't worry, it doesn't have to be a disadvantage in your job application. The key is to design it well and address it confidently in your application.Here are some tips from me, a holistic career advisor:1️⃣Work out the common thread in your career and put your strengths in the foreground. To present yourself positively in a job application, focus on the common thread in your career and highlight your strengths. Consider how your diverse experiences have given you soft skills or broad knowledge that qualify you for the job.2️⃣Tailor the cover letter to the respective employer and justify your interest in the vacancy. To make your cover letter engaging, start with a successful opener and tailor it to the specific employer. Show how your previous experience qualifies you for the job and focus on the positive if you've had frequent changes or breaks in your career. Avoid going into too much detail as it may draw attention to your unsteady resume.3️⃣Design your CV with a common thread that should run through your vita. Tailor your résumé to the company by focusing on the relevant experiences. Omit experiences that do not fit and may not be relevant for the potential employer.4️⃣Decide on a case-by-case basis which experience should be mentioned and which should not in your CV. For experiences that don't fit a traditional résumé, consider using a functional résumé that focuses on key topics and associated experiences.5️⃣Prepare an explanation in advance for frequent breaks and changes in your vita for the job interview. Inconsistent resumes can be viewed negatively, but it's possible to have multiple successful careers. That feeling of exasperation when you come from a different country with a different working environment and you’re trying to figure out how to find a job with not much luck…Can be paralyzing.Even with ample research that tells you what you have to do, it can be really difficult to figure out how to communicate properly. Everyone tells you to network and reach out to recruiters, but what does that really mean? Sending out job applications sometimes proves to be a daunting experience for most job seekers. 😥Is this the right way or not? Have I captured everything that is required? Are all my documents and credentials in order? Should I hit send now?👉 This is what drives me to this simple but often tricky question;𝑫𝒐 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝒉𝒐𝒘 𝒕𝒐 𝒔𝒆𝒏𝒅/𝒆𝒎𝒂𝒊𝒍 𝒂𝒏 𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒍𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 (𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝑹𝒆𝒔𝒖𝒎𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑪𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝑳𝒆𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒓)?Here are a number of tips that might interest you going forward......📃 First, 𝑭𝒐𝒓𝒎𝒂𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝑹𝒆𝒔𝒖𝒎𝒆!After doing the necessary adjustments to your resume, save it as a PDF or Word document and label it with your official name and job title. Keep in mind that some employers might have specific requirements for the format of the resume or cover letter. This is to say.... Don't be rigid with your templates!📧 𝑪𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒆 𝒂 𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒇𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝑬𝒎𝒂𝒊𝒍 𝑨𝒅𝒅𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒔!This should include your official name rather than a funny nickname or username.✅ 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒆 𝒂 𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒇𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝑬𝒎𝒂𝒊𝒍 𝑴𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒂𝒈𝒆! Unless otherwise specified, include the job title and your name in the subject line.
